[attr="class","fdgeneraltwo"]THE CURSED BLADES OF KIRIKAGURE
[attr="class","fdgeneralbody"]
An organization developed in Kirigakure, the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist are titled as so for being the strongest blade wielding ninja that Kiri has produced. There can only be seven members at a time, as there are seven blades that are passed down from generation to generation. If a member abandons Kirigakure and takes one of the blades with him or her, they are still considered one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen as one does not lose the title until they die or pass on their blade. In order to become one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen one must be at least Chuunin level or higher—as the honor of the title comes often comes with high expectations to undertake dangerous missions. Similarly, it is not uncommon in Kiri for one to become a Seven Ninja Swordsmen by defeating/killing the former wielder of their chosen blade. Each of the seven blades possesses their own unique abilities. The famous ninja swords are as follows:[break]

Similarly, it is not uncommon in Kiri for one to become a Seven Ninja Swordsmen by defeating/killing the former wielder of their chosen blade. Each of the seven blades possesses their own unique abilities. The famous ninja swords are as follows:[break]
KUBIKIRIBŌCHŌ DECAPITATING CARVING KNIFE • Boasting the style of a massive broadsword shaped like a butcher’s knife, Kubikiribōchō has earned the title of seversword as is appropriately specializes in separating limbs and heads from their body. Kubikiribōchō’s special ability is that if the blade is broken or damaged, it can regenerate itself using the iron collected from the blood of its victims. The blade is very durable and strong, though, and is able to cut through almost anything.[break][break]
SAMEHADA SHARK SKIN • Arguably the most terrifying of the seven blades, Samehada is a sentient weapon whose size rivals that of Kubikiribōchō and whose fearsome reputation has garnered it the title of greatsword. The unique abilities of this sword (aside from the fact that it has its own personality and feelings), is that its blade shreds rather than slices, consuming and storing a person’s chakra in the process. Samehada is often cocooned in bandages, hiding its unique appearance of downward facing scales instead of an actual blade. The bandages are used for practical measures as well, since Samehada’s size fluctuates depending on how much chakra it has eaten. It is also the only blade that is capable of disowning its own wielder, as the blade will only allow those it believes are worthy of wielding it to hold onto its hilt—any who try to touch it without its consent will have their hand severely damaged.[break][break]
NUIBARI SEWING NEEDLE • A thin, lengthy blade that unsurprisingly appears like a large needle, Nuibari assumes the title of longsword. Attached to its hilt is a long, sturdy wire that allows it carry out its special and deadly ability. Nuibari can pierce multiple targets at a time, and then literally sew them together simply by the wielder pulling the wire taut. Similarly, a skilled wielder of Nuibari can throw the blade, catch it on the other side, and repeat to create a knot of victims.[break][break]
KABUTOWARI HELMET SPLITTER • This blade consists of two parts, a sword in the shape of a giant axe and a huge hammer connected by a leather-like rope from end to end, and has earned the name of bluntsword. Kabutowari is said to be capable of breaking through any defense, a tactic that requires both parts of the sword to be used in conjunction of one another. While the blade and the hammer operate quite well as separate weapons, the most effective use is to lodge the axe in a target and then drive it through with the hammer.[break][break]
SHIBUKI SPLASH • This is large sword consisting of a narrow blade and wide backside that contains a scroll with a variety of hidden explosive tags, earning its title of blastsword. The wielder of Shibuki must be proficient in the art of explosive jutsu in order to properly utilize its abilities. Once Shibuki comes into contact with the desired target, the explosive tags will ignite on command and can create a devastating blast radius, in addition to this Shibuki automatically reloads a new round of explosive tags with minimal wait time—meaning the wielder can continually blast their opponent with every strike.[break][break]
KIBA FANGS • This blade is actually a pair of swords with an upward curved prong-like construction, that utilize lightning-based abilities earning their nickname of thunderswords. Because Kiba utilizes the element of lightning to improve their cutting ability, they are widely known as the sharpest blades in existence. A wielder must have an affinity for Lightning Release techniques, as the blade allows its user to utilize high-level lightning abilities with minimal chakra expenditure. Kiba’s wielder also has the ability to freely manipulate lightning.[break][break]
HIRAMEIKAREI • This blade appears much like a fish in shape, with a wide, flat blade that has curved indentations near the hilt. It technically has two handles, though they are often connected by a short length of cord, earning it the title of twinsword. Hiramekarei’s unique abilities are that it can store chakra (much like Samehada), as well as manipulate the chakra’s shape when it expends it. For instance, Hiramekarei can form the shape of various weapons when it unleashes its stored chakra (such as a hammer or a longsword). Due to its chakra storing abilities, Hiramekarei is an extremely heavy sword to wield and has been known to exhaust its wielder after extended periods of being carried.
