[attr="class","fdgeneralbody"]
Bijuu, otherwise known as the tailed beasts, are a set of nine chakra monsters in possession of unique powers and incredible destructive force. Said to have come into existence by the hand of the Sage of the Six Paths splitting the mythic Juubi’s chakra into nine individual beasts, the Bijuu are often likened to monstrous demons that only bring about ruin and destruction. Ignorant of the fact that the Bijuu are in fact sentient creatures with feelings, personalities and memories, many shinobi believe them to be nothing more than wild, thoughtless animals that throw their power around without any regard for the people around them.[break][break]
This lead much of the shinobi world to seek various sealing jutsu, adamant that the best method to dealing with the problem was to control a Bijuu by implanting it inside a human container, a Jinchuuriki. The shinobi world was of the opinion that a Jinchuuriki would be better able to utilize the beast’s power properly, and that everyone would be safer for it. These misguided views led many of the Bijuu to resent humanity, as well as their own Jinchuurikis and many often use opportunities to gain control over their human container and wreak havoc around them—resulting in many villages fearing their Jinchuurikis. However, it is also common for the Jinchuurikis to be closely related to their respective Kages in some way, whether by blood or bond, as a Kage is typically the best person to deal with a berserk Jinchuuriki.[break][break]
Each Bijuu has an immense amount of chakra, far surpassing most (if not all) regular shinobi. The Bijuu are able to freely transfer their chakra to whomever they choose, not just their Jinchuuriki. Similarly, Bijuu are able to extract their chakra, condense it into a ball, and then fire these “Tailed Beast Balls” as a powerful offensive weapon—one blow can be powerful enough to vaporize an entire section of mountain at a standard level. Another attribute of the Bijuu is their ability to communicate telepathically with their Jinchuuriki, as well as the other tailed beasts if they so wish it. The infamous Bijuu are as follows:[break]

Another attribute of the Bijuu is their ability to communicate telepathically with their Jinchuuriki, as well as the other tailed beasts if they so wish it. The infamous Bijuu are as follows:[break]
SHUKAKU the ichibi • The one-tailed tanuki, Shukaku, hails from Sunagakure where it was first captured and sealed within a giant tea kettle. Over the years the people of Suna began to believe that the Shukaku was the embodiment of a living ghost, a desert spirit banished to the tea kettle. Personality-wise, Shukaku is described as being a “wild and short-tempered” individual, often speaking loudly and incoherently, behaving almost like a drunken madman. Shukaku is extremely prideful, though perhaps suffers from something of an inferiority complex due to it possessing only one tail—a fact that has caused it to be particularly resentful of Kurama. Likewise, Shukaku is a Bijuu that relishes in violence, and often tries to goad its Jinchuuriki into allowing it to take over and go on a killing spree. One of the side-effects that Shukaku’s Jinchuuriki suffers from is persistent bouts of insomnia, as the Shukaku tends to eat away at its Jinchuuriki’s personality while they sleep and often attempts to take complete control over their human container. Those that possess Shukaku have access to his unique ability to have absolute control over sand, utilizing it effectively as both a means to attack and to defend. Shukaku, like many of the Bijuu, is very concerned about self-preservation and the sand will typically protect its Jinchuuriki automatically without the Jinchuuriki having to exhaust any of their chakra. Shukaku possesses Earth and Wind nature releases.[break][break]
MATATABI the nibi • The two-tailed bakeneko, Matatabi, hails from Heiwagakure where it was captured after having ignited a forest fire that threatened the village. Similarly to Shukaku, many people believed the Nibi to be a living ghost, a spirit that was once human. Personality-wise the Matatabi is known for its respectful speech pattern, capable of being relatively polite when addressing others. Furthermore, the Matatabi tends to be a bit more humble in comparison to its fellow tailed beasts, and isn’t particularly prone to boasting about its strength. However, the Matatabi is widely known for its tenacious independence, as every past attempt a Jinchuuriki has made to form a significant bond with the Matatabi to become a fully realized Jinchuuriki has failed. Like many other Bijuu, Matatabi despises the concept of being controlled or used. One of the side effects of being Matatabi’s container, is that the Jinchuuriki’s physical skin can run hot, given that the Bijuu is literally composed of fire. This is especially troublesome when the Jinchuuriki’s emotions are fluctuating and they are not being mindful, as their skin can unintentionally cause minor burns to those who unwittingly try to offer comfort. Those that possess Matatabi have the unique ability of utilizing blue flames in their jutsu, and all fire nature attacks are relatively ineffective against the Jinchuuriki, with the sole exception typically being Amaterasu. Matatabi possesses Fire and Lightning nature releases.[break][break]
ISOBU the sanbi • The three-tailed turtle, Isobu, hails from Kirigakure where it was first captured due to it preferring large, open bodies of water. Isobu was one of the few Bijuu that is typically reclusive, capable of living in the wilderness without a desire to cause devastation to the neighboring villages. Personality-wise, Isobu is extremely timid in comparison to his fellow Bijuu, speaking with a slight stammer and being prone to bashful silence. Unlike other Bijuu, Isobu’s resentment of humanity stems from its fearful nature, leading to it often hide from them and lash out violently when it feels cornered. One of the side effects of acting as Isobu’s container, is that the human is afflicted with anxiety attacks and tends to be on the paranoid side. This anxiety can sometimes disrupt chakra flow, making control and rational thought harder for the Jinchuuriki to maintain. Those that possess Isobu have the unique ability of creating and manipulating coral, as well as the ability to produce a hallucinogenic mist that puts targets under a genjutsu to force them to face their worst insecurities and fears. Isobu possesses Water and Wind nature releases.[break][break]
SON GOKU the yonbi • The four-tailed monkey, Son Goku, hails from Iwagakure where it was initially found residing within a live volcano. After a long, arduous battle, Son Goku was captured and sealed within an Iwa shinobi, and has remained under the village’s guidance and surveillance ever since. Personality-wise, Son Goku is extremely prideful and enjoys boasting about its adventures and power. Son Goku also believes itself to be more advanced and intelligent than its human counterparts, making it prone to snide remarks and bickering with its Jinchuuriki. However, Son Goku demonstrates great respect towards his fellow Bijuu and addresses them all by their given names, which likely stems from his own self-pride in being a Bijuu. Son Goku is also known to be a fair individual, and will return respect in kind when it is offered to him. One of the side effects of being Son Goku’s Jinchuuriki is their rage-induced strength, that can cause significant damage around them without even drawing out a single tail. Those that possess Son Goku can produce and manipulate Lava-related jutsu, both offensively and defensively. Likewise, Son Goku’s Jinchuuriki will demonstrate an innate affinity for taijutsu. Son Goku possesses Fire and Earth nature releases.[break][break]
KOKUO the gobi • The five-tailed dolphin-horse, Kokuo, hails from Heiwagakure, where it had settled after the war, preferring the lush peninsula to the mountainous landscape of Land of Earth. Personality-wise, Kokuo places a high value on propriety and typically speaks in an overly polite manner. Reserved in nature, Kokuo favors quiet observation and is not particularly conversational. Perhaps this is because Kokuo generally does not understand human beings, as it finds humanity’s greedy, war-like behavior baffling and disconcerting. Although relatively enigmatic, Kokuo makes no secret about its pride as a Bijuu and does not often see eye-to-eye with their human counterparts. One of the side effects of being the container for Kokuo is that dry climates tend to agitate and weaken the Jinchuuriki. With abilities reliant upon steam and humidity, it's no surprise that Kokuo’s Jinchuuriki often has severe dust allergies—occasionally needing specialized medication. Those that possess Kokuo have unique steam-based ninjutsu, and can force their chakra to reach a “boiling point” granting them overwhelming physical strength. Likewise, the Jinchuuriki can emit and manipulate steam at will. Kokuo possesses Water and Fire nature releases.[break][break]
SAIKEN the rokubi • The six-tailed slug, Saiken, hails from Kirigakure, where it was found making a home in a damp, dark cave. Although Saiken was not bothering anyone, Kiri collected and contained it anyways. Personality-wise, Saiken is noted to be a kinder, more benevolent individual than his fellow Bijuu. Past Jinchuuriki have had much better success with maintaining Saiken, as the slug beast does not usually attempt to overtake its human container, and even offers its power and chakra if asked nicely. While Saiken is not as self-serving, it is still takes an obvious pride in its position as a Bijuu. Saiken is also rather light-hearted and energetic, prone to making jokes to liven up a situation. One of the side effects of being Saiken’s Jinchuuriki is a severe salt allergy, causing them to be very mindful of their diet. As Saiken’s Jinchuuriki, an individual has the ability to create corrosive properties in the form of liquid or gas, and similarly can secrete a sticky slime substance to trap its targets. Saiken itself has a high degree of durability, which it can also afford its Jinchuuriki. Saiken possesses Water and Earth nature releases.[break][break]
CHOMEI the nanabi • The seven-tailed kabutomushi, Chomei, hails from Konohagakure, where it was found settled on the outskirts of the Aburame Clan’s property. Personality-wise, Chomei is perhaps the liveliest of the Bijuu, tending to behave in a happy-go-lucky and playful manner. It also believes itself to possess a lucky number of tails, and that it brings good fortune wherever it goes, often referring to itself as the “Lucky Seven Chomei”. Animated and bubbly, Chomei is one of the more easier Bijuu to live with, but its mischievous personality can occasionally cause unintentional trouble. One of the side effects of possessing Chomei is that the Jinchuuriki is often touched with a slight inclination for symptoms similar to ADHD, such as hyperactivity, impulsive/reckless behavior, and prone to distraction. The Jinchuuriki for Chomei has the ability to sprout chakra wings and fly, as well as create chakra threads that form a defensive cocoon which is impervious to chakra absorption techniques. The Jinchuuriki also seems to have a natural rapport with insects, in a way that is similar to Konoha’s Aburame Clan. Chomei possesses Wind and Lightning nature release.[break][break]
GYUKI the hachibi • The eight-tailed ushi-oni, Gyuki, hails from Kumogakure, where it often resides in the waterways below. Kumogakure feared Gyuki’s presence, due to his predilection for going on devastating rampages whenever the temper strikes him, and as such sought to keep him imprisoned within a Jinchuuriki. Personality-wise, Gyuki is very blunt and austere, known to speaking in a very insensitive, rude manner to those around it. Gyuki is an extremely hardy and no-nonsense individual without much for a sense of humor and very little patience for mischief or foolishness. Much like its fellow Bijuu, Gyuki takes pride in its status as a tailed beast, and becomes irate when shown disrespect—hence its tendency to rampage against Kumo. Despite this, Gyuki follows a sort of honor code, and very rarely holds grudges against others for things beyond their control. Likewise, Gyuki is highly intelligent and analytical, capable of making observations based on objective reasoning. One of the side effects of containing Gyuki is that the beast has a particularly demanding and dominant personality, and if a Jinchuuriki falters even slightly the Gyuki will take advantage. Because of Gyuki's overbearing personality, the Jinchuuriki is often struck by exhaustion. As Gyuki’s Jinchuuriki, an individual has the ability to produce ink for trapping their targets or producing clones. Gyuki possesses Water and Lightning nature releases.[break][break]
KURAMA the kyuubi • The nine-tailed kitsune, Kurama, hails from Konohagakure, where it blah. Personality-wise, Kurama is extremely arrogant about its role as the nine-tails, as it believes the number of tails indicates how powerful a beast is. This overconfidence in itself and its abilities lead Kurama often dismissing and underestimating everyone around it, which has lead to it alienating itself from its fellow Bijuu. In addition to this, Kurama is also extremely cynical and possesses a morbid sense of humor, indicating its proclivity for creating death and destruction around it. After many years of receiving humanity’s animosity has led Kurama to believe he is the embodiment of hatred, a belief that feeds his hostility toward human beings and most clearly his Jinchuuriki. One of the side effects of being the nine-tails Jinchuuriki is that Kurama has the ability to sense negative emotions within them, utilizing aggressive manipulation tactics to try and infect the Jinchuuriki with hatred. Likewise, Kurama is prone to constantly berating its Jinchuuriki, impacting one’s ability to form a healthy self-esteem. As Kurama’s human container, an individual also has the ability to sense negative emotions in others. Because of the extensive stress it takes to contain Kurama, the beast will often offer its Jinchuuriki regenerative abilities for the sake of self-preservation. Kurama possesses Fire and Wind nature releases.
